8x zoom add-on to phone camera for $5?

obviously it's a lie and not going to do 8x zoom for $5.
probably like those $2 ebay AA led flashlights that advertise 5000 lumens but are really 200 lumens.

surprisingly, those $2 lights arent that bad.
they're MUCH better than those 9 led lights that you find at the dollar store.

so is this 8x zoom add-on worth it for $5?
and how much zoom do you actually get?

I guess it is possible to make some really cheap lenses and make them zoom 8x, but obviously the quality and lighting is going to be terrible.

I mean how much quality glass are you expecting for $5? It'll probably zoom 8x but it'll be (at a guess) not very sharp, not very bright, have a lot of vignetting and a bunch of image aberrations.
But it's just $5! It's not like that's much to spend and it might be fun.

Slight aside, you can get phones with 10x optical zoom built in now. Which is amazing given the thinness of phones!

yeah but these phones are expensive!
i have yet to pay more than $80 for a phone, and that includes my current android 12 phone that can do ultra-wide pics.

or are there 2x optical zoom phones for $80 now?

Even the cheapest foreign made 4x scope for an air rifle is around 30-40 usd. Don't new flagship phones have a pervert scope built in?
