As far as I know, the R03s are just as good as the Ricohs, and they burn at 8X instead of 4 on most drives.

I bought about 400 of these Ritek DVD+Rs as well as about 100 of the -Rs so I've burned both Ricohs and R03s. No coaster so far (atleast not any from the media's fault).

I would have bought some more but I still have about 200 of these Riteks (both + and -) and I just bought another 250 of the TDK ones that were on sale for $10 (25-pack).

This is a good deal if you guys are in need of some new blank DVDs. However, DVD-/+ Rs are dropping in prices recently (probably due to dual-layer discs) so that would make this an OK deal instead of a hot deal.

I have a 4x burner and purchased the 25 pack of 8x +R's from staples last week. They would not burn, because I did not have an 8x burner.

Is this typical? Im new to this whole thing.

Nope, in a 4x burner 8x DVDs will merely drop back and burn at 4x. My guess is that you bought +R DVDs and you have a -R burner.
