My mobo got fried a few weeks ago, an A7N8X Deluxe, and newegg was out of them, so they sent me an A7N8X-E Deluxe. so i got my system back up on a fresh xp install and partition, and i got my ati stuff installed, except mmc (i got an aiw, yeeeeeeeeeeuh) but i noticed that my 8x agp slider wont stay. whenever i reboot it goes back to zero.

i installed my nforce2 chipset drivers and i made sure that i saw the gart inf in the nvidia folder, and even right clicked it an installed it again. my bios has 8x enabled...so i dotn know what to do. i didnt have probs like thsi before on my other board, which wasnt drastically different...so im outta ideas.

anyone have any solutions?

Try disabling fastwrites in ATi Control panel and then reboot, can you then enable 8x AGP mode? You do know the speed difference between 4x and 8x AGP mode is very minimal at best.

fastwrite is already disabled in the cp and bios, and its not even @ 4x; the slider is all the way to the left

Are you running the latest SP and DirectX for your system?

Also try reinstalling the latest reference drivers from ATi.
