... Clinton runs a child sex ring in the basement of a pizza parlor because one of her advisors talks about how he likes pizza in an email.

This is Jordan's defense:

The powerful House Republican responded last week by deriding the men he had once coached as liars, and possible agents of a “deep state” conspiracy against true conservatives throughout the elected government.

...WHAT? Gosh i guess the FBI and CIA had really great foresight to set this man up decades in advance. The Republican party is illegitimate and an enemy to truth and reason.

Just going to throw this out again since the GOP seems to think bible quotes justify legal action.

One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

Why face things head on when you can just fake news and half the country has your back by default and floods the airwaves in your defence?

Several former OSU coaches released a joint statement defending Jordan on Monday. “We all worked on the wrestling coaching staff during Jim’s tenure at The Ohio State University. None of us saw or heard of abuse of OSU wrestlers,” the statement read. “The well-being of student-athletes was all of our concern. If we had heard of any abuse, we would have spoken up.”

Oh, well if they say they aren't guilty then I guess they aren't guilty. Case closed.

Well using Trump's metric, who cares what they say they all voted for Trump.

Kind of how it went at Penn State before all hell broke loose.

I can't possibly imagine why other people who would be implicated in this would deny it as well, haha.

Let's be honest with ourselves, it's very unlikely that eight separate former wrestlers are all conspiring to take down this random asshole congressman. The most likely answer is what they are saying is true. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy either, haha.

Funny thing I heard about this is a guy went in for something like a cut above his eye, the doctor immediately asked him to take his pants off.
They guy decided he could handle bandaging it himself and left.

Unlike many in this forum I'm not going to assume guilt because he is white.

Now I gotta say this...when this story came out I snickered, but I honestly believed Jordan was telling the truth here. I mean, everything I've heard about ultraconservatives in high school and college tells me they LOVE outing their closeted gay classmates/coworkers. I believed Jordan would be the kind of man who hears an allegation of inappropriate man-on-man contact, and runs screaming to the dean's office and is out to destroy this man's life. I mean this is the 80s after all, not the more "gay-friendly" 90s. Also, I have to question why this story is coming out now...and not years ago. Strauss killed himself in 2005...surely someone would've said something after? Jordan campaigned for Congress and was elected in 2006...and this never came up?

So I believed.

Then I heard Jordan was hiring a professional crisis management team.

Then I heard he's got people looking into the background of the first 4 wrestlers to come forward about him, and air their dirty laundry in an effort to discredit them.

There's an awful lot of effort being expended to clear his name, and I'm not quite sure I believe him.

Still, if he did know something, it's kind of stupid not to admit anything. All he should've said, from the beginning, was "I heard some locker room talk, but I was just a 20-something assistant coach. I asked around and never got confirmation. I'm sorry that I couldn't fix this." Hell he could even say "I confronted Strauss, and he denied everything. I believed him. I'm sorry" (Strauss is dead...no one can refute that.) Even if there was a House Ethics investigation, he'd probably come out of it stronger when they find for "no wrongdoing". I mean, fucking Nunes aced his ethics investigation!

So yeah, he's vehemently denying it, which means its probably true he knew something, and he's a horrible person for using his political power to get back at the wrestlers (who are the real victims), but in the grand scheme of things, I wouldn't call this a career-ending flub. The GOP is full of horrible people who are still in office.

If history repeats, this is all going to come out like all of the other sexual abuse cases before it. I think Jordan will eventually be toast politically.

I'm just glad I didn't have time for college sports, if there'd been a possibility that a pot-bellied coach would want to touch my junk.

That at the time Jordon was in his early 20's and barely out of college himself. These guys were out of high school and 18 years old or over. Why wasn't the matter pressed then instead of waiting over 30 years. I'm not doubting the doctor very well may have been a perv. But the timing of these accusations smells like BS to me.
