8RDA+ - Crucial memory - New memory or motherboard??

As the title suggests I am running Crucial 2100 DDR {3 256 sticks} on a EPOX 8RDA+. In the past I have just been lucky - I read the reports from the experts here - buy the great overclocking boards and good memory - a chip known for overclocking - push up the FSB and magically I am overclocking substantially usiing just good convention cooling.

But not this time - I have had no luck overclocking by just pushing up the FSB and then of course I read that the people who know here say use ANY memory except Crucial. So I assume that is the reason I have been unsuccessful in overclocking.

Could someone please recommend either a reasonably priced memory that will overclock with this board or recommend a good board with features similar to the Epox that will overclock with Crucial. I am torn between selling my memory and buying a different board or selling my board and buying different memory {recently Mushkin was selling for a good price}.

2100DDR is showing it's age now, I'd suggest selling it and upgrading to 3200DDR-3700DDR of your preference. The 8RDA+ is a great overclocking board though the first revisions weren't hitting 200fsb consistantly without a vdd mod so if you have one of the older ones and don't wish to be troubled with mods then perhaps selling both and getting a new board with the C1/A1 ultra400 chipset and faster ram would be the most prudent course.

Where would someone look to find out what revision of the 8rda+ they had? I have sort fo the same setup except I'm running crucial PC3200 ram. I can easily get the ram to 166 (still underclocked) but when I try for 200 it doesn't make it. I only tried it once though and it's probably something I'm doing.

A lot of people say to raise the voltage of your memory. It sounds like your ram is pretty dated anyways, so why not just for the hell of it.

I have rev 1.1 and it works fine. I am using PC2700 ram. I have never OC'ed but I did install a northbridge fan kit and it sure dropped the temps a bit. Maybe I will try OC'ing a bit.

My revision is 1.1. I do like the board - if I sell my Crucial 2100 and put in 2700 or better should I expect to overclock some {assuming my Athlon 2100 will do it} ??

If the answer is yes when I go to 2700 DDR or better do I still have to avoid Crucial with this board??

Only batches of the 512 MB PC2700 really had problems with NF2 motherboards - pretty much every other size/speed combination was fine. I'm unsure if it's been resolved by now, haven't been keeping up with it, and nearly everyone I know who had this problem just got a different memory brand (most actually went to Kingston HyperX, that was a popular choice).
