8RDA+ and Radeon 9100 boot problems, no post.

I just bought a Radeon 9100 and 8RDA+ from newegg. With the 9100 in the AGP slot the computer won't post or go to the bios screen at all. It gives me an error code of 26 which correlates to an overclocking problem. I have cleared the cmos numerous times, my older nvidia card works perfectly, i have updated to the latest bios and everything. I have also tried "Resetting configuration data" to "Enabled after I successfully boot with the older nvidia card, then switch to the 9100 card, still unsuccessful. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi mufdvr3669, make sure the card is truly getting down through both the first and second rows of contacts. If that doesn't work, try this next:

  • Unplug the system and punch the power button to drain the power supply's capacitors
  • Threaten it a bit: "no electricity for YOU!"
  • Clear its CMOS by moving the JCMOS jumper shown on page 3-5 to the CLEAR position for a few seconds, then move it back
  • Begin holding down the Insert key
  • Keep holding it down while you plug in the system and press the power button
  • Keep holding until (hopefully) you get a POST and it will go to the BIOS
Still no dice? If you have another system with an AGP slot, test the card in that system and verify that the card itself works. Also, if your power supply is a generic-ish brand, no matter how high the wattage rating, consider getting a major-name unit like an Antec or Enermax, 330-350W. Quality of the PSU can make a big difference these days :Q

Welcome to the Forums, hope this works out for you :)

Thanks for the tips but no dice. By the insert key you mean hold down the insert button on the keyboard. The radeon booted up fine in an old system, my power supply in my new system is a 380W Antec so that's not the problem. I'll fool around with the system over the next couple of days, and if nothing then ebay the radeon and buy me a nvidia 4200, there shouldn't be any incompatabilities between the nvidia and an nvidia board hopefully. thanks

Darn darn darn. Sorry to hear it isn't working right... maybe someone else will have good suggestions. I suppose you could try disabling AGP 8X and Fast Writes in the BIOS to see what happens.

I had the same problem...it's probably not a problem with the video card...I just kept messing around with the card and bios settings with a different card...I think it took me like 30 mins to get it to work...I reset config data a few times...reseated video a bunch of times...think I disabled 8x and stuff like that...eventually it worked...don't know what really did it though...
