8pin cpu mb connection only 4pin cpu psu connection?

I have a ABIT AN52 Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 520 MCP ATX and a Thermaltake TR2 W0070RUC ATX 430W Power Supply the problem is the motherboard has a 8 pin cpu power connection but the psu only has a 4 pin cpu connection. Now ive read on some sites that you can get away with just using the 4 pin connection but im not sure if i should put it on the left side or right side or even the middle.

Also the motherboard is a 24 pin power connection but the psu has a 20 pin with a extra 4 pin connection some people said just take the 4 pin from that and use it for cpu to fill in but i dont think that will work with the mb only getting 20 pin instead of 24

Generally a 20 pin ATX should work OK in a 24-pin socket. Generally you only need all 8 pins in the CPU socket if you have two or more CPUs. All four 12V and all four ground pins are connected together (check with an ohmmeter if you don't believe) so you can plug the 4 pin connector in wherever it fits - just make sure the 12V leads are on the correct row - the connector catch should be on the same side - easy way to be sure.

the connector catch is positioned more toward the right side making believe that the this board is capable of using a 4 pin connector otherwise i think the connector catch would be in the middel like all the other connections on the mb
