Hello,
My first post here
Something in my rig broke down a while ago and I'm just about to hand it over to a repairshop to see what I need to replace (I do not have the possibility to test the components myself unfortanly).
My guess is that either CPU or motherboard is broken, given the events before it stopped working and given that the computer won't even post. But I'm not sure.
What I'd like get is some feedback on what to get if I need to replace some of the key components of my system. It was a year ago I bought my system so I haven't really followed the hardware market since then - so I'd really appreciate you oppinions!
My setup:
* Gigabyte GA-8KNXP
* Northwood 3.0/800FSB
* Corsair CMX512A-3500C2 x 2 (tot 1GB)
* Sapphire Radeon 9700 Pro AIW
* Seagate Barracuda 160GB SATA
So, what do you think I would get if...
1. The CPU is broken?
2. The motherboard is broken?
3. If both are broken (which means I *could* change platform I guess, if I wanna)
I do have some basic knowledge about the most common Canterwood motherboards and was thinking of ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe (which wasn't available when I got my system). I am not sure however, that was a year ago...
I'd like a setup at least as good as my current, with as many options as possible for future upgrades and O/C...
kind regards
Jens Olsson
