8KNXP Problems

I have a new 8KNXP that I am having no end of problems with right out of the box. It has loaded XP one time and now it will not recognize any of the hard drives, either IDE or SATA. Clear CMOS, Flashed the BIOS, but system refuses to recognize the drives. I can format the drives, load to the first reboot of XP and then it bypasses the hard drive after the reboot and goes back to the CD. Anyone have this issue and have a suggestion?:disgust:

Are you using RAID? Also need to have an idea of how the hard drives are connected and to which controler. How many hard drives do you have? Are they set to master and slave properly?

Let us know a bit more detail, because I had a reboot issue with my motherboard. I got it fixed.

Talk to you later.

Thanks, I finally got it figured out. I am not using Raid, and I finally gave up and pulled the IDE drive and I am only running SATA and SCSI now. Everthing works fine except for the MASS Storage Controller Driver and loading of the latest Silicon Image ATA drivers. System locks up on loading XP.

Hi guys,

I'm trying to install a copy of windows on my system with the 8knxp board as well. I'm using 2 maxtor 120 GB SATA drives in RAID with the Silicon Image controller. The installation program loads from the windows CD, I provide the drivers for the Sil chip without any problems and the system promptly recognizes the 2 drives as one big drive. Formatting also goes by without any problems. However, when installation files begin being copied over all hell breaks loose. The program often says that it couldnt copy the file over properly to the hard drive and that the copy on the hard drive is invalid. It lets me retry the copy and sometimes it works. But then a files later the same thing happens. Also, sometime when I try to install windows halts again and says that there was an error in setupdd.sys or sometimes that "IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL". I've replaced the hard drives, and the WinXP CD-ROM but still can't get the errors to go away. If you guys have any ideas, wheter a cable may be connected incorrectly or anything, please let me know. Thanks!

Sorry if this is a stupid question but what exactly do you mean by "Give the ram some more juice" . Also which memory timings are you using?

Having problems loading windows on my 8KNXP board, I found it is all in the way you load raid drivers in windows set-up. First put the txtsetup.ome. then put drivers on a floppy, ( you might have to take the drivers out of the folder and put on floppy in the order they are in the folder), then load floppy when promted by windows set-up. This worked for me.

There is a setting to up the DIMM voltage. My Corsair memory needed to be upped by .2 to work right (later cofirmed in Corsair forums). I let the memory use its SPD timings.
