Hi everyone. I am a newbie to building computers and this is my first one. I don't care about overclocking really, but I would like to get at least the original performance offered from this chip/motherboard. I decided to go with the 8KHA+ (which has the N+ bios) and an xp1600+. I got everything up and running very smoothly considering all the "problems" I have read about concerning this board. However when I first booted it gave me a msg. in regards to the cpu being changed and it asked that I verify it. (I forget the exact msg. sorry) I went into the bios, saved and exited. Everything went normally from there. I have since noticed that the bios still states that my processor is 1.03 ghz. when in fact it is a XP1600+. I also used 3D Mark 2001 and it showed the same thing. I'm assuming it is just reading this from the bios. I have a GeForce 3 with the latest drivers installed and I only got a 5844 score, which doesn't seem right to me either. I'm sure there is some tweaking I could do and I have done some in the Bios such as setting memory to turbo and AGP to 128 megs, etc.. to try to fix the low score on the 3D Mark, but still no real increase.
My real question that boggles my mind is why would my system be reading my CPU as a 1.03 ghz. Has anyone ever heard of this or do you have any suggestions on how to fix it. Maybe it's a bad chip or motherboard? I would't be at all surprised if it was something in my part actually, heh. I'm sorry for my newbieness, but I have learned a lot from all of you in the past and was hoping maybe someone would know the answer to this? I am grateful for any help anyone could give me. Thanks!
