If you are running an 8KHA+ w/ a raid card, would you mind running HD Tach HD Tach 2.61 and posting benchmarks for your raid0 array.

My read burst score of 73 mbps seems to be a little slower than other boards I have used. Usually the score is off the chart (80+)

No surprise.

You've got a VIA chipset based mainboard. IDE performance is always lowest in the class. I realize you're using an add-in RAID controller, but I've experienced similiar low performance issues with SCSI and RAID controllers (add-in) on all VIA-chipset based boards. Including my 8K7A's ... but that's to be expected from the 686B.

You really despise Via don't you?

Fortunately my KK266, 266-R, 8K7A, 8K7A+, and nForce420 boards did not exhibit a slow read burst speed on HD Tach like the 8KHA+. Odd thing is both of my 8KHA+ motherboards throw up the same score. With that in mind, all of the boards I listed above use the 686B southbridge minus the nForce420.

Well, I wouldn't have expected the nForce-based board to. So that's good news :D

It is entirely possible you're running in to an IRQ issue. Is the RAID controller sharing an IRQ with anything else? VIA boards also have issues in the IRQ department.

And no, I don't "despise" VIA. I'm just disgusted with their bug-ridden chipsets.
