8KHA+: Is the "FF" Code Normal?

I too have the soft boot problem and was wondering if ppl that have NO problems with this board also get the "FF" code.

FF usually mean that the BIOS has completed the power up sequence and is turning control over to the O/S. People have reported that they get no video with an FF code. For sure all 8KHA+ motherboards that are running fine are displaying FF.
 
Yes "FF" is quite normal for a working Epox 8KHA+ board mine is saying that right now 🙂.
 
If you haven't read it already, check out this help link. It sounds like the beta bios has cleared many of the boot issues people have had.

In my opinion, "FF" means that the computer cannot continue POSTing. If your board is broken and cannot finish the POST, it will display "FF," and if it finishes the POST, it will not be able to continue further, and it will display "FF."

Wrong. My PC display the FF code all the time once complete POST and load Win...and continue to display FF until I shutdown after usage. FF means POST completed & fine.
 
if u see 'FF' after ur MB has POST .. that means ur MB is running fine with no errors

if u see 'FF' and nothing on ur screen.... something is wrong.. and mostly is due to CPU malfunction

Do you own the board? This kills me. Someone who has posted as many times as you, your opinion is valued by the nubes. Don't post nonsense if you don't know what you're talking about.

I just purchased the 8kHA+ and had a Tech friend install it for me (since I am a rookie- go figure...) and it runs awesome. He said the FF was normal- Works fine for me! 😀
 
CStroman, I just RMA'ed an 8KHA+ back to Newegg. DOA. It would not post, never accessed the floppy, or anything else. Just laid there like a dead fish!

It displayed FF. That's all it ever did - FF. Maybe your theory IS correct!

I swapped it with a fully working 1.4 system, and it acted the same. The mobo from the fully working system (DFI AK76-SN) worked fine in the system where the 8KHA+ came from. Did lots of reading, tried lots of things, then I quit messing with it!

If FF really meant everything's normal and it's through POSTing, I'd be a bit happier now, and this computer would be running with an 8KHA+, also.
 
Regardless of whether or not some people may have had situations where the board did not work and displayed FF, FF is the normal display for everything being OK.

I can't remember off the top of my head right now, but I believe if you check the manual or their website it will tell you what the codes mean.

I have a EPox 8kta3 that was functional. It stopped booting to POST, but still has FF code whenever I turn on the machine.
 
1st off:

I first was having the "C1" problem... I seated my memory HARD, and it stopped that problem. It took me a couple times, but that truly was it.

Now I'm having the "FF Problem." I power on, LED Immediately goes to "FF", fans start a-whirrin', and nothing else happens. No floppy, monitor blank. Just sits there.

I'm getting a little mixed information from the forums... I'm told that this means there may be a mobo problem, or may be a CPU problem, but I'm really hoping that's it's like the "C1" problem, I can fix it even though some people think it needs to be RMA'd.

What things can I do to troubleshoot this?

Configuration:
Epox 8kha+ mobo (not sure what rev.)
Duron 900mhz
256 MB Overclockerz PC2400 DDR Ram
Ultra Ata 100/133 Maxtor 40GB HD (Not connected currently)
Floppy (Connected)
Ledtek Winfast GeForce 2 Ti
Enhance Electronics 300 Watt PS

Try resetting the BIOS w/ the jumper.

Once again, the FF code is not an issue here, that is what it is supposed to be.

Do you have access to an alternate video card and CPU you can try? Thats gonna be the quickest and easiest way to figure this out. It really could be just about anything.

Er, In my testing I unplugged all of the hd's & the floppy. All a sudden' I was back to the 'C1' problem.
The post code flashes FF, then C0, then C1 & stays on C1. It also is beeping every second or so, again.
I've reset the memory 10 times or so, pushing it in HARD, but it keeps giving me the same thing. If I try it without the RAM it's the same thing.

Argh!

Have you tried the RAM in a different slot?

Yes. I tried the Ram in a different slot a couple times.

I have V.2 Mobo. I have a 'U=' bios (I think).

What else can I try?

Do you have any other RAM sticks you can try?

Is C1 a memory error according to the manual?

Do you have anything installed on the board right now besides CPU, RAM, Video? If so, remove everything but those.

Then, if possible, try alternate CPU, RAM, and Video one at a time.

If you have a local shop that is cool, you could take it there and see if they can get the board to post with alternate equipment.

I have no other ram chips, nor do I know anyone off the top of my head who does, or who has a mobo that supports it. *sigh*

I can try another video card. I can try another CPU, although I hesitate. I'm worried about messing up the CPU as it is...

According to everything I've read, 'c1' is a memory problem. I think 'c0' is too.

Is there anyone who has direct experience with this problem, or who's seen the solution on a site/forum somewhere?
