When I boot up it says AMD processor 1050 (100x10.5). It should be 1400 MHZ. I tried to change the CPU ratio in the BIOS (to 14.5) but it doesn;t seem to stick. Is that the right thing to change?

Yes, there is a 100/133 fsb dipswitch near the AGP slot. Check the manual to make sure it's on 133mhz. Be sure to check your bios also. When you boot, the ram might be at PC1600; another problem that may be related. To fix that, go into bios and make sure your ram is at 266mhz or PC2100. Once everything, set, it should be 10.5x133=1400. :)
