8KHA+ and onboard sound...FIXED

I recently built a system around the 8KHA+ and planned to use the onboard sound. I installed the AC97 drivers from the CD. I have the onboard sound enabled in the BIOS. Win98SE says the AC97 drivers are installed properly in the Device Manager. (Windows also installed a device called "MPU-401 compatible".) However, under the multimedia settings it says there isn't any audio playback hardware installed. If I try to play files in Windows Media Player it says that there isn't audio hardware installed. When I try to run Winamp, it locks up when I press play. I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions?

Here is the hardware in the system:

Athlon 900
8KHA+
Yamaha CDRW
Maxtor 20 GB hard drive
Geforce2 MX200
300W power supply/Enlight 7237 case
