I am interested in amd 1600xp that Newegg has on sale for $51. There are tons of reviews about this cpu with differant motherboards, but NONE for mine (the Epox 8k7a).
Also, it doesn't seem to be recommended by AMD for this CPU. Any thoughts on this?
Anyone out there using the 8K7A with the 1600 XP. If so, your opinions please.

i have an xp2000+ on an 8k7a. no probs. so i don't see why it would have a problem with an xp1600+

Perfect match. Set the fsb on 152MHz, give the core voltage and DDR voltage a modest boost and enjoy 1600MHz. No need to unlock.

make sure ur ram can do 150mhz tho 😀

The Epox 8K7A is a great board, I regret upgrading to the 745 Ultra. Computer Geeks has the KG7 for $55 new, it is Abit's version of the AMD 761 chipset. I ordered 2. The KG7 is supposed to be the fastest tuned version of the awesome 761 chipset. There is a simple core voltage mod to allow over 2.0v like the Epox comes with stock.

What kind of performance pop from a duron 900 to the 1600 XP can one expect with this board?🙂

if u get the 1600+ from newegg for $52 shipped... and sell ur 900 duron for like $30-$35... then it'll probably be the best $20 upgrade ever. 😀

I'm overclocking my Athlon 1.2 to 1.4 on my 8K7A without upping vcore, to my knowledge never had a problem and with a stock Enlight 300 w PSU.
