8k7a/Win2k error still occuring! :(

I feel as though I've read every single 8k7a/Win2k thread in this forum. From what I understand, everybody seems to be fixing their errors by installing the latest 4-in-1, de-selecting AGP, then installing the AGP miniports. I've done this, and STILL get a bluescreen reporting Inaccessible Boot Device. The only way my system will boot is with an older 3.28a version of the 4-in-1s installed. Then, and this is the kicker, no CD Writers will work on the system. I think it has something to do with the IDE drivers or their setup. In IDETool that comes with the 3.28a 4-in-1s reports that my LiteOn 24x CD-R has a current mode of Ultra-DMA mode 2(ATA 33). Is this what it should be, assuming I'll never be able to install the latest 4-in-1s?

Thanks much

Update: Using IDE-Tool I changed the mode of the LiteOn CD-R to PIO 4 and Multiword Mode 2, and perhaps one other. The point is, none of them worked. CDRWin still reports that there are no Recording devices installed. I once used an application called ForceASPI or something that installs ASPI files on Win2k, so I'm wondering if I should perhaps unintall them. Anybody know how to remove ASPI drivers?

Thanks 🙂
