Whe you first turn it on, it will cycle thru a series of codes, when the bios hands over control to the OS FF should be displayed. The ASUS iPanel goes thru the same series of codes, and its final code is FF as well

might be just a bios glitch. did you flash the bios at all? have you ever reverted back to an older bios? I know the iPanel sometimes is glitchy as well.

BTW. I grabbed this off the epox website....

QUESTION

Why does the POST LED not stay at FF after booting?

SOLUTION

The Power On Self Test (POST) LED is a troubleshooting tool used during the boot up to diagnose problems. However, after the system completes the POST procedure and control is passed over to your operating system the information displayed is of no value. At this point any information displayed on the LED can be ignored.

The POST LED feature obtains its information from address port 80h. But after boot the operating system and/or software may write to port 80h causing the display to change - there is no reason for concern.

The Epox 8K7A has a slight problem with softbooting - that is, after the BIOS resets the machine, it may refuse to boot unless you completely shut down the power. In this situation, you'll get code 26. It doesn't mean anything is actually wrong. Just power down, wait a minute, and boot up again.
