I dont quite understand it, when i turned it on the first time it played up, the screen went into standby mode, and the POST LED said FF although there was no other activity so i do not believe it entered the boot sequance, when i pressed the cold reset but it booted properly so i went into the bios had a play about set the Cas latency to 2.5 instead of 2 which it was set at even tho i have pc2100.

Now when i turned it off with the power and on again it boots fine every time, or when i press the reset switch. BUT when i soft reset, either using windows or control+alt+del or whatever it does that same thing, moniter goes into standy and POST sais FF.

Im completely vexed by this can anyone help me out?

I have Epox 8K7A set at 133FSB
Athlon 1.33ghz *266*
256 crucial pc2100
300watt enlight PSU
GF2 GTS 32mb
Baynetgear lan card in there to +hard disk, CD Rom and 2 80 mm fans.

You said Baynetgear lan card. Is that a Netgear FA311? If so, that's your problem. There are known issues between that card and the AMD 761 northbridge.

Yes. He is saying that that board will not work right with the Netgear fa310 or 311 board. I had it, pulled it, and it worked fine.

I put in a 3com NIC afterwards and that did not cause any problems.

Well, what about an older FA-310? That's what I have, and i'm looking to get an AMD 761 chipset board soon. Shall I throw in a 3Com?

The FA310TX works just fine with the 761 chipset. I have tested this NIC (with Lite-On chipset) and it works fine
