8K7A and OS Problems

Just installed my 8K7A and everything was fine but then i started getting lockup problems when i tried installing drivers for my sound card and my video card. Windows98 would stay at configuring pc for more than 10 minutes. Eventually i gave up and restarted the computer. This happened like 6 times and eventually i gave up. The drivers installed successfully but i still get the same problems when installing other stuff. Can anybody tell me what would solve this. Which drivers should i download for the mobo and which drivers should i not download? I know there is a AGP driver bad somewhere but cant remember. Can you please link it too. Also an FF code shows even when I am in windows98 on my mobo. Is that normal? I mean everything else seems to be running fine. My temp is 42 degrees C and stable. Also how do i disable the onboard sound? Sorry but i am a newbie. My specs are below just in case.

Enlight 7237 ATX 300 Watts
Gigabyte Geforce 2 MX 32MB SDRAM w/TV out 4X AGP
IBM 40 GB 7200RPM Deskstar 60GXP Ultra ATA/100
Toshiba DVD ROM, 16X DVD, 48X CD ROM
Linksys Ethernet Card 10/100
Creative Lab Soundblaster Live! 5.1 sound card
Retail AMD Athlon Thunderbird 1.33ghz/266 FSB w/HSF
Samsung DDRAM 128MB 16X64 PC-2100 (2)

thanks if anybody can help again

FF is normal, the agp driver to use in on the cd. The bad one is the one in the via 4 in 1 drivers.

You disable onboard sound in the bios.

No idea why your other drivers wont install.
Goodluck.

thanks jenn...should i install the new bios ? And Im still having the same problem. Why does windows keep stalling on me right at the beginning..i cant even get to my desktop without restarting it a few times. Any help would be appreciated?

Disassemble and then re-assemble with just the necessary hardware. That way you can narrow your problem down. Maybe you have all ready done this, but that would be the first thing I would do.

ya did that same thing...didnt help..but thanks anyways..heck i got in but i cant shutdown properly have to turn it off manually...more help is always appreciated.
