I just got my TBred 1700+ and 8k5a2+ combo working yesterday. My Crucial RAM will only go up to 140Mhz with normal mem. timings and my multiplier is at 13x( but posts as a 12.5). Whenever I try to put the multipier at 14x/15x it posts as a 700Mhz. Does anybody know the reason why it wont do 14x? I have this thing running 1.76Ghz (12.5x140@1.6V stable running 3d Mark 2001 38C Full load) and I know that I can run this thing higher. Oh yeah this cpu came factory unlocked.

You sure it's unlocked? I would shoot an email over to Epox tech support. It may be the current bios doesn't fully support this CPU yet...I haven't seen them in retail channel yet.

I am positive it is unlocked. I can change the multiplier around lower than 13x and it does change. I used the latest bios then the beta that you have in the 8k5a2+ thread and still the same thing. BTW the TBred is a notebook CPU. But everything else works perfect. I will shoot and email over to Epox tech support.

This is what Epox wrote me back

Dear User,
Thank you for your interest in EPoX products. Unfortunately overclocking
issues are beyond the scope of items we can provide technical assistance
for. Overclocking is done at the user's own risk. Overclocking has the
potential to overheat processors, create stability issues and other
problems not present during normal usage. But don't be distressed, there
are numerous websites providing unofficial support for the overclocking
public. Although we do not endorse or check the reliability of them here
are a few to get you started: www.anandtech.com, www.tomshardware.com,
www.viahardware.com

Thank you for your understanding.

Aint that some s**t

Link doesn't work.
and "multipliers above and below 13x are mutually exclusive" what does that mean and "you can't have them both. Only one range at a time" What am I choosing two of you can only have one multipier setting.

An AthlonXP cpu either supports multi's above 13 and or only multi's 12.5 and below. No XP supports doing both. At this time, the only XP's that support multi's 13 and above are the 2100+ and faster. All 2000+ and slower will only use multi's 12.5 and below. Upgrade your RAM, my friend. That 8k5a2+ is just begging for you to run it at 166MHz FSB or faster. And then this multi problem won't be an issue either ;)

Aight i borrowed a stick of Samsung PC2700 from my supervisor and I reached a FSB of 187Mhz x 10 @ normal timings. I have another stick of Crucial PC2100 that can do 153Mhz x 11.5 at the normal timing settings. Right now i am using a cheap Volcano 6cu+ but i think that tonight i am going to hook up my Alpha PAL8045 with Delta 68cfm fan. This is all done at 1.65V on the cpu core and default voltage for the ram. if I try to go higher than 1800mhz the computer will jsut give me a BSOD right beofre I get into windows. Is that because I need to increase the voltage or is that the limit of my CPU? I will try it with the alpha tonight then I will post my result I am hoping that i can get it higher than 1800Mhz.
