Well this worked just about how I planned.
Got the board from Newegg, the first one was bad. But RMA'd it with no problems.
Currently have my unlocked XP2000+ running at 333 and my Corsair memory running at 333.
The CPU is clocked at 1.66GHz.
It would be nice if I could run the memory in TURBO mode, but I suppose FASTEST is ok.
A friend has Mushkin memory and he can only get to FASTEST also.
Summer is startin to hit in the Pacific Northwest, so any additional overclocking atempts may have to wait, though I'm happy with the way the system performs now.
The only complaint I have is I still can't do MPEG2 to MPEG1 conversions in real-time or faster.

This is the 4th 8K3A system I've done in the past month and everyone, including myself, is happy with thier systems.

i agree, its a sweet board :)

ive also built 3 or 4 systems on this board in the last couple months

the system i use is an 8k3a+ running a fsb of 166mhz(333mhz) with 512mb samsung pc2700 also running synchronous with the fsb at 166mhz(mem is running cas2 with 2,5,2)... the cpu is an xp1500+ that is unlocked with the multiplier set at 10x giving it a speed of 1666mhz (in xp rating thats 2000+) the coolest thing is that it runs at 2000+ speed with the default core voltage :) so with my ax-7 hsf the idle temp stays around 37 degrees and under load it only gets into the low 40's...

since it has the 1/5 pci divider the whole system is still running at spec (66mhz agp, 33mhz pci)

the only think i cant figure out is why i cant get the multiplier 10.5x to work... if i set it at 10.5x it still only reads 10x... all the other multipliers ive tried have worked fine. the system will boot with a multiplier of 11x (1833mhz, xp rating 2250+) but its not stable... so im pretty sure it would run at 10.5x speed with a voltage increase (1750mhz or xp2125+)...

hehe still thats not much of a complaint :D
