Hey guys, I just have to rant a little bit. I am very pissed off. I have been trying to get one of these boards since late NOVEMBER!!! I still have yet to get one. That SUCKS! I am about to just buy a 845PE board and wait until Springdale/Canterwood comes out and say to hell with the E7205. Now, on top of the availability problem, it appears that people are having problems with their 9700 Pro. I am waiting to buy that card or the G4 FX card (if it is better than the 9700 Pro) , but now I wonder if it is even worth the hastle. Last but certainly not least...you cant seem to OC well on this board. WTF??? I dont think that I will hit 200FSB on this board, but damn...I would at least like the option.

I know, stop the complaining. But aren't you guys frustrated too???

Don't feel alone. A lot of people are frustrated for the same reasons and more than what you've indicated. Right now, if i was to suggest a good stable chipset and motherboards based on that chipset to someone, it would be the 854E or 850E for the P4. These chipsets have gone through their growing pains and therefore are mature enough to have the majority of the bugs worked out of them. Unfortunately, these chipsets are also getting a little old. But, both will accept the new HT CPUs just like the 845PE and the E7205. And, the 845E is turning out to be the best overclocker of any of the chipsets, including the newer ones. Nothing wrong with having the latest and greatest. In fact most people are getting good samples initially. It's just that some people may have to RMA it a couple of times to get a good sample. And bios upgrades usually fix most of the remaining problems.

I just got mine yesterday from Newegg but, it was very difficult - they had stock for about 5 minutes.

I can guarentee you will not hit 200 MHz on this board +/- 160 MHz seems to be the limit.

I am unfortunately having problems w/ this board an my 9700 Pro but am pretty certain the problem is w/ the card and not the board since I had similar issues (video crashes to 256 color) using the MSI GNB Max.

DmHinz - The problem could be in the E7205 chipset. That would explain the MSI & Giga-Byte problem??? Anyone else think so? What about the P4G8X? Does it suffer the same problems?

Possible but, not probable - I have seen several post of 8INXP users reaching 160 MHz using the 9700 Pro. I am +80% certain the problem is somewhere in my Radeon....

Kowan posted this in a similar thread and I'm going to give it a try
"On Asusboards, some have stated locking the PCI/AGP to 34/68 has cured their problems with the GA-8INXP. "

remember back awhile ago when ppl were started to cry where was the GB e7205 mobos and someone linked an article that said they were going back to fix a bug in the chipset and I thought it was related to the agp!!!

Just a fainted memory!!!

That's what I did. Even AFTER owning one of the first available Giggy 8INXP's back in Dec. Yeah, it was a nice board with a lot of features. It was fast and stable but not, imho, worth the $249.00 + shipping for the additional 5% gain in performance over my lowly Giggy 8SG667 SIS648 board. I decided to hang onto my 8SG667 so I sold the GB to PJ whom I guess has sold it to someone else. I was going to keep the 8SG board until the SIS655 or Springdale/Canterwood boards came out but then I found a real good deal on an Iwill PH4T so I bought it. So far, I'm pretty happy with it. My 2.53 maxes out at 158fsb on PE board whereas it would reach it's limit of 156 on the GB. The 648 wouldn't allow over 150fsb. While thePE board isn't quite as fast as the GB, it is faster than the 648 board and for $70.00, it was over a third cheaper than the GB. Funny thing about the PE. I can run my Corsair CMS pc3200C2 ram at 2,2,2,5T whereas it would only run at 2,3,3,6T on the GB and 648 board. Under max overclocks the PE was only about 100 pts. less than the GB in 3DM2K1. I found that hard to believe since the PE dosen't have the GB's mem bandwidth. I guess the slightly higher o/c and more aggressive ram timings compensated.

Oh well, the PE's a pretty decent board. We'll have to see how the 655 and Spring/Cant boards perform :D

My advice is to go with a good PE chipset board, like an Albatron 845PE for example.

Yeah. It had to do with an AGP "eratta" problem in the E7205. Intel was supposed to have agreed to supply revised chipsets to the motherboard manufacturers thereby correcting the problem. bizarre.
