I have a question .
My Gigabyte mb 8Ihxp has been running for 6months. Just recently I turn on the computer and had no video , monitor wouldn't evn turn on. Thought a series of trouble shooting ending at everything disconnected ramm removed, no pci boards plugged in etc. The yellow power light on the mb indicateds power but when I turn on the power cpu fan starts up than about 2 seconds later power shuts down. Have to unplug the AC to try again same thing.
Is it my MB or processor Intel P4 2.4gig? Also I see the power indicator on the case flashing at a low rate.
Any ideas?

If you put the Memory & CPU in with no video do you get any beeps?

Did you add anything recently that might of caused this?

Thanks for the replys.
I do not hear any beeps. I have not added anything new as a matter of fact the computer was running at the time it shutdown. It as done this before but always rebooted. Not this time though. I have tried another PS also with the same results. Another thing I just noticed now is I don't have to even push the case power on switch and I see the CPU fan turning and the front panel power light blinking. I think I might reset the bios maybe wrong CPU seting or something. I just wish I could pinpoint the problem before I invest in another MB hoping ram is ok. I know the video card is good because it is now installed and working in another computer.

When I got my motherboard it rebooted periodically. I thought it was my installation of XP, just going to XP from W2K. After about 2weeks of these reboots and other problems the board just quit working. I tested the RAM and CPU in another computer. Newegg RMA'd me another motherboard. Search the Archive's on this board for more info.

Dude...it looks like this board died on ya. Hope you can still RMA it from retail or your going to have to RMA from Gigabyte.

Hi Everyone,
once again thanks for the help. I found the problem, or at least the fix. It was my BIOS. It somehow went south. How I found it was a desperate attempt . I removed the battery and power cord for about 20 seconds then replaced the battery and magic my display came up and the checksum didn't match . But now I'm able to use the dual bios feature (GREAT FEATURE) !!!!! Reset it and now back to normal as if nothing wrong . Scares me that it happened though might still have a problem lurking but as for now computer has been running for 24 hrs no problem.

Everytime I convince myself to get a Gigabyte board I see this. Almost decided to get the Gigabyte Sis655 board but changed my mind now. I shall wait on Asus or Msi with their SiS offerings. My 1 and only bad bios flash >1 year ago left a bad taste in my mouth for Gigabyte boards.

Regalk.... Its up to you if don't want to purchase a Gigabyte mb, but it was the dual bios that saved me. Very easy. I have a MSI and Gigabyte mb both are excellent . The main problem I come across that causes crashes more than hardware is software .
Good luck with whatever MB you chose there are alot of good ones out there I don't think you go wrong with anyone you pick.
One more note I also checkout the MB webs site to see how good the support pages are and info for updates and fourms for help.

I was worried to get a gigabyte board also, but not any more. The only thing that I wouldn't get, that is myself, is a sys chipset. I'll stick with Intel. Yea, a little slower/less options, but stable as an oak table.
