I'm looking at getting the 2.8ghz i7 860, and 8gb of RAM. There's two different speeds I can choose from, with what works out to be around US$ 50 difference between them.

I was wondering if you think it'll make a difference to the speed of the computer? And if it would be likely to be a tiny difference in real life? I'll be using the computer for heavy Photoshop and Video Editing, but not gaming, and I won't be overclocking.

8GB Corsair CMX8GX3M4A1333C9 DDR3-1333 CL9 4x2GB

8GB Corsair CMX8GX3M4A1600C9 DDR3-1600 CL9 4x2GB

Neither 1.3ghz nor 1.6ghz fits perfectly into the CPU's 2.8ghz, does that matter?

Thanks very much for your help!

If you're not overclocking DDR3 1333 is fine. I would get a pair of CAS 6 or 7 sets, versus those CAS 9 ones.

Thanks!

I'm having trouble finding a DDR3 1333 8gb Kit in CAS 6 or 7 though. I found "OCZ Intel XMP Dual Channel Kit, 2x2GB, DDR3-1333" which has a CAS of 7, but it's about US$ 300. That was about how much I'd be paying for 8gb of CAS 9 RAM.

So I kept looking and found "G.Skill F3-10666CL8D-4GBRM, 2x2GB, DDR3-1333" with a CAS of 8. I could get two packs of that, which interestingly would work out to be less than the packs I originally mentioned. That could be the one to go for maybe.
