I was thinking that DDR3 8GB DIMMs were all pretty affordable these days, until I decided to try upgrading a motherboard with an Intel C204 chipset to 32GB of ram. Apparently unbuffered ECC dimms are still around $200 -- annoying because registered ECC memory seems to be half the price.
Do you guys think these prices will come down any time soon, or is this just a symptom of the limited demand for unbuffered ECC parts?
Crucial.com: $199
Newegg: 16GB Kit OOS, but listed at $329
