2gb DDR2 doesnt even exist at a reasonable price. So the answer is hell no, just move on to DDR3.

This is frankly why I built my 2500K system. I was running a core 2 Duo with 4 GB of RAM, and it was absolutely choking on the photo editing I was throwing at it. It was mostly due to RAM...if I'd have been able to get 8-12 GB in there I probably would have been fine for a while, but it would have cost nearly half what it cost me to buy 16 GB of DDR 3, a new motherboard and my 2500K, just for the RAM upgrade...at that point I just said screw it.
