8GB compatibility on Gigabyte EP45-DS3L? *fixed*

I had 2x 2GB sticks of 800MHz Patriot DDR2

I just got another 2x 2GB of 1066MHz Patriot DDR2

It works with either of them at once, but put both sets in and it won't post. I tried resetting the CMOS.

Any suggestions?

I owned the same board, only it was the 2 dimm slot version.
have you tried relaxing the timings ?

2t command rate and up all the latencies by 1
maybe even give it an extra 0.1v for good measure
then reboot and add the extra 2 modules

I got it to work now.
The timings were too tight. Resetting the CMOS only made it worse, since the SPD data on the two were different and it confused it. I set up the memory dividers and timings manually and it worked.
