since BD wont be arriving to am3 boards, any reason to pick a gigabyte 890fx over gigabyte 890gx?

as far as i know the differences are back panel connections and gx only allows dual cards to run at 8x vs fx's 16x.

need gigabyte because i need 7+ sata connections and the asus only has 6.

everywhere i go people tell me to stay away from the gigabyte 890gx due to tons of problems with it, same as the msi 890fx another board i really liked the looks of.

im looking to put in a 1055t 95w and overclocking it to 4ghz with a corsair h70, and im not interested in running crossfire.

is the build quality on the gigabyte 890fx really that much nicer then the gigabyte 890gx or msi 890fx?

Any reviews on the asrock extreme 890fx ? I think it has 8 sata3 connections to.

not interested in asrock, more of a msi, gigabyte, asus fanboy. although i think asrock might be same company as asus or something? still dont like the looks of the board.

asrock is a OEM supplier IIRC which would mean OEM quality. which typically isn't a bad thing.you asked I answered and it was another option in the group you didn't list. I have had a few asrock pc's over the years. All pretty good no fialures to note but nothing since like socket a.

I am having good luck with my MSI 890GX + 1055T that I got from Fry's back in May. OC's to 4.0Ghz without being much of a pain at all. Only 3 fan posts including the CPU fan post though. Great quality board though, good cooling and quality components.

Best of luck picking out the best board for you.
