Is there any sort of tentative date for the 8900GTX? My friend is building himself (with my aid of course) a monster rig and insists on having the biggest and best of every component, so I told him I'd look into release dates for the 8900.

By the time the 8900 hits the ground running, your friends other components wont be top shelf anymore. That is, if he already bought them. Tell him that. It will annoy him. ;)

With PC components; you will never catch up with the technology. So buy what is the latest now; something else always creeps up after you bought it anyway. Top of the line technology would last you about 3 months top.

ITS NOT COMING UNTILL ATI RELEASE ITS R600 CORE : (

Nvidia ain't that stupid to release 8900GTX before R600 because it would demolish the sale of 8800GTX (alot 8800GTX stock still needs to sold). They 1st want to milk all they can with 8800GTX and when ATI release R600 , nvidia will just reduce the price of 8800GTS to $300 and 8800GTX to $450. then get rid of the stock and then a month later they would release a 8900GTX and 8900GTS to compete with R600 head on.
