The last nVidia card I bought was made by BFG. Right now they are unavailable to me, and my only two options are a XFX and a eVGA card.

So what shall I go for?

EVGA for Step Up and Lifetime warranty

XFX for Double Lifetime warranty (I don't really know what this means though)

I think it means if you sell your card, the person you sell it to will also get lifetime warranty support...whereas for other cards the wrranty doesn't transfer.

Yeah, an XFX resale value will probably hold a greater amount due to the enticing lifetime warranty the buyer will be able to have with a used product. Just makes reselling the card an easier thing to do.

I would agree with XFX for the double lifetime warranty if you ever wish to sell your video card.

Physically, all the 8800 series cards are exactly the same, they are all made by the same contractor. Nvidia is keeping a tight rein on them because of the cards complexity and such. Or arrogance, not sure.

Personally, I'd go eVGA myself though because of the bundle and Step Up program.

Ditto.
I'd go with eVGA because of the step-up and it's second to none tech-support
The DLT Warranty doesn't mean squat much anymore with today technology rapid changing pace, imo.
With eVGA you can practically do anything with the card and not void the warranty so long as you do not hit it with an ax (no physical abuse). LOL

I never cared for game bundles. Rather have them take the games out and subtract the value of the games from the card's price. But thats just me. heh heh If you dont plan on selling the card or stepping up then just go with the cheapest price.

When I ordered earley Wednesday all Newegg had listed was the eVGA and BFG. Both were the same price, so I chose the eVGA for the bundled software.

I'd also go with an EVGA one. I love their Customer Service and I normally sell my video cards to people I know.

Or should I wait for BFG? Interestingly enough, eVGA have always been significantly more expensive for me, but currently I find them to be cheaper. And like you guys mentioned I'd be getting Dark Messiah as well -- though I am not particularly excited about that.

My only worry is that when NVIDIA did the recalled, they only did the correction on the eVGA cards. I don't want to receive a bad card by mistake. :p

Theres no double lifetime warrant on the gf8 from xfx, its only on the gf6 and gf7. Im also skeptical on the lifetime part, i think it means if production gets stopped on the card you have no more warranty. Lifetime of the product, not till you die.

If you are buying now and going eVGA for the step up why?

Step up is nice, but you only have 3 months...what will you be stepping up to in 3 months....nothing.

I see the best way to use eVGA is around the time of a refresh and you can use the step up if you would like.

I wouldn't buy eVGA "just for the step up" when a new card is released.

Either BFG or Evga, for their reliable/speedy RMA service.

I picked the Evga, it was the same price and had Dark Messiah.. a game I was going to buy to use with the card anyway.

Well if you go with the GTS model you can step up to a GT if they come out with one after Xmas or the 65nm refresh to combat the R600 (if this comes soon enough-that's why I'm holding off a month or so before I go eVGA 8800GTS).

eVGA has been and will be my card of choice for years to come, not so much of the step-up but its tech-support and the ability of fiddling the card without voiding the warranty.

Every partner had their cards recalled to be fixed, not just eVGA. The problem was fixed before the Nov 8th launch.

Ok that clears things up somewhat. I may go for the eVGA card then. Dark Messiah is that new might and magic action game right?
