8800GTX temps?

My XFX 8800 GTS runs at 67°C idle, 73-75°C in World of Warcraft and 84-87°C when stress testing with ATI Tool. The fan also runs at only 1400rpm idle and 1700rpm when stress testing. Nvidia obviously thinks those temps are fine, and that's fine with me.
I was actually thinking that I'd go out looking for an aftermarket cooler pretty soon, but this thing beats all my expecations. It's certainly quieter than the Arctic Cooling Silencer that I had on my 9800 Pro. My first "reference design" GPU cooler in four years that won't be replaced =)

Those temps should be fine, man. In my experiences with OCing and the like, no video card has run on a heavy load without hitting at least 80-85C. They're made to handle it.

I bought a slot cooler and as far as I can tell its a waste of money, the bottmom line is these cards run hot. I dont crash or anything after hours of playing WoW so the temps are more then fine. I will keep my eye out of aftermarket cooling MAYBE, cause I like doing them anyhow. I have a lifetime warranty from Evga so I am not worried really about the temps, I get the same temps as others have mentioned or there abouts.

Highly disagree. Which slot cooler did you buy? I tried it on my AMD rig, and check this out.

OH MAN, you've got the wrong one! It should be this one.

And it looks like this inside my case.

Note the air-sucking hole lining up with the 8800's side vents. My idle temp never goes up past 60C and load temp is always below 70C.

Well my temps are in the same area so I dunno what to tell you.

Well a little update here, decided to mess with running the fan at a fixed speed and I saw some really good results. Using Riva I have the fan speed fixed to 85% and my idle temps are now around 51-52 I get about 54 surfing then net and about 60 max under full load. Tonight in WoW I am gonna check it when we have some heavy AOE going on and see what I get, I imagine it might hit 62 then but this is a pure guess could be higher.
