First off like to say First time Poster!! Go ahead make the jokes :p

2nd off, I have searched the video forum, and Technical support to no avail.

What I am asking:

8800GTX SLI power supply recommendation.

System layout is as follows:

C2D E6600
Corsair XMS2 PC2 6400 2 x 1GB Dual channel kit
eVGA SLI Motherboard
eVGA 8800GTX
1 36gb Raptor
1 160 3.0/gb Sata WD
Soundblaster Xmusic(?) Cant remember I bought it a while ago.
Plextor DVDRW

Right now I am Currently looking at the following PSU Choices:

Antech 650w
Thermal Take 750
OCZ 850

Open to any suggestions for PSU, I dont plan on putting alot of fancy stuff inside the computer, nor do I plan on putting more Hard Drives or other PCI Cards inside. Will either of those power up the box and keep it going?

Thanks in Advance to the posts.

well, if you are going SLI with those then definitely the 850W. If only single card, I would recommend the 750. The 650 could work for a single card, but not both.

I've seen posts about people running 8800GTX SLI on 700w units (these are basic systems of one drive and one optical drive, etc.) but I would say 800w-850w to be more ideal. It also allows for future expansion of more powerful cards down the road. You *dont* need more than 850w though. So dont let people tell you you need those big 1Kw units. Unless maybe you got a dozen drives in your case. Then maybe a 1kw but the average setup wont need that much.

For 8800GTX SLI, 600W is the bare minimum. You're going to want a 700+ watt psu. I recommend the 750 watt Silverstone ST75ZF. It's one of the best psus on the market.

If you think you need a little more power, there's also an 850 watt version

Thanks! Been a long time reader, since probably August 04. Usually find what i need with other peoples posts but I felt the need to get a few posts on the subject I am currently faced with.

To all those who replied thanks! looks like a general concensus(sp) is about 750-850 to be on the safe side for SLI.

Thanks again!

That PCP&C 750W would be a good choice due to its single rail and is more than powerful enough. The 8800GTX is actually not that much of a power hog. According to Techreport, it uses less power on load than an X1900XTX and units around 600W were common for X1900 Crossfire systems.

Yeah, when it was first announced everyone started thinking the 1kw psu was going to be needed. Even the psu manufacturers started coming out with newer 1kw units to run the cards in SLI. Luckily it proved to be overhyped and now 800w-850w is top end depending on how many drives and stuff you got in your rig.
