I just got my 8800gtx and it kicks ass. Running oblivion at full details, hdr, 16xq AA and still getting 60 fps blows my mind. I'm surprised at how quiet the card is, but so far it seems to be overheating. After 10 minutes of playing oblivion I start seeing some artifacts and the card says it is 80 degrees. Is there any way to get the fan to increase its speed? Otherwise I might have to underclock it.

You should be able to change the GPU fan speed from within the NVidia Control Panel, which should be installed if you installed the 97.02 or higher driver.

My 8800GTS gets up to about 75 celcius load with the case open and the fan at 80%...but then mine is overclocked.

Underclock a $650 video card...? If it artifacts at stock speeds after 10 minutes of game play, it's defective and should be replaced. I had to replace my first 8800GTX for the same reason, but my second one runs like a champ.

Mine gets as high as 84c for brief periods playing Oblivion with no problems whatsoever ... if yours is artifacting at 80c you should RMA it.
