8800GTX Drivers

I have an 8800GTX arriving today or tommorrow, and I was just looking at Nvidia's website to see what the latest driver release is, and I see no mention of GeForce 8 support in the release notes. Is there better third party drivers to use with this card at this time, or will those drivers work fine in Windows XP?

Thanks

Thanks, for some reason, I didnt see those when I chose windows XP. I guess I had to choose XP/Media Center. My mistake.

You have to pick Graphics Driver > GeForce 8800 Series > Windows XP/Media Center Edition

...that is the only choice for the OS.

Thanks, I didnt see that there is a new section for 8800 series drivers, I was doing my Normal routine of choosing Geforce/TNT drivers from the menu.

Thanks again.

BTW, this is the only driver available at Nvidias website and it is a bit "borked" in my opinion.

Many options reset back to default settings after I close the Nvidia Control Panel, such as the Monitor Scaling.

I also cannot change overclocking settings (through ntune).

I tried using the one that came on the CD with the MSI GTX and it works better. It is v96.89. So far no problems with this one.

Another thing also, PowerDVD does not work anymore, even when reinstalling. I'm not sure if it related to the GTX, I would have to try it on the second rig to be sure.

Funny you should mention PowerDVD. I had an issue with it also with PowerDVD when using version 96.89 that came with the driver CD. Installing to 97.02 seemed to have corrected it for me. Being the first official release for the 8800 series, I'm not surprised there's so many problems. Let's hope these get ironed out fairly fast.

Not sure on the place to download but no more OC'ing for me with the new drivers. Both ntune and Rivatuner locked up the system when testing clocks. (That worked before with the old drivers- 97.02).

So from where should we download it?

Try nvnews.net, in the forceware section of the forums.

These arent offical by the way.

It would be nice to have signed drivers as well as 64bit drivers that actually work.

Oh and at nearly 60MB it's getting ridiculous.
