8800GTX + 8800Ultra - Flashed to SLI

I have these two cards and one was free basically and I have no other use for the other then to SLI them.

Which would be the best to do?

GTX flashed to Ultra

or

Ultra flashed to GTX

.. I hate to flash the Ultra in case it did not work.

.... If the GTX screws up I will be less disappointed.

Anyone done this? suggestions?

Thanks Guys
Tre

Flash the GTX to Ultra
GTX wont like Ultra speeds
Both bios dont have to be the same
Sli will run on the slower bios

Close...

Test the GTX with Rivatuner first to see if it will handle the Ultra speeds.

If it will, flash to Ultra & party.

If not, mod the Ultra BIOS to lower speeds then flash.
In SLI the cards will run at the lower speed.

So, these cards cannot work as they are? Ultra has just higher clocks over GTX and I know that identical cards with different OCs, work with no issues in SLI.

Very true, but I am guessing nvidia just don't want to put the time into fixing the sli drivers to match up the two different bios.

Yes they are the exact same card other then higher clocked and faster ram timings on the ultra.

very disappointing...

The driver decides if they can be SLI'ed based on the model string.
