8800GTX @ 1GHz

MY GOD.

thats a massive OC. almost 100%.
my feeling is G80 has a long way to go still.
people are arguing that 2 power connects was not needed since if only consumes as much as a X1950. nvidia might have been very smart to put 2 power connectors on the GTX. the extra power available to the card, can be used to power a future TEC/air hybrid cooler, and push the card to 700 or 750 mhz.

maybe an anti R600 move from nvidia... G81 sure will be interesting...

There's nothing funny about an extreme overclocker getting his 8800GTX past GHz frequencies and then referring to its memory as 512 MB of GDDR3? Did he forget to overclock the rest of the 256MB's of it or something?

Sorry, I thought that was rather amusing. If the guy is bi/tri lingual I have no problem but it's just humorous to see an overclocker use a "special" GTX that has 1/3 its memory...

Didn't the x1800xt do that. I seam to remember a team of overclockers getting the core of an x1800xt to get over the 1Ghz mark too. Pretty nice results though.

true. wonder if it was real cuz unless they ddint do any volt mods i dont see how the 8800gtx or the x1800xt hitting 1000 is possible.

x1800xt has software voltage control.

That is something I realy liked about the xk1 cards. I did a hard volt mod for my 7800gt but it's not something I want to do with alot of cards. Made me nervous the first time I put the soldering iron that close to my baby. I haven't heard, do the G80 cards have software voltage control? That would be sweet! Cause I don't know about the rest of you but trying to solder on a $600+ peice of delicate hardware is kind of nerve racking. Much easier to just move the mouse around and have my volts up that way.

Obviously it would. Well, i could be wrong but its logical to think that upping core affects the other clock domains.

thats what i was thinking, 100% OC is a first for a GPU, isn't it? Imagine what it will be able to do at 65nm :shocked:
