Yes. Two dual-link DVI outputs support two 2560x1600 resolution displays. (eVGA 8800GTS 640)

Well, you'll be able to do that, but only when SLI is disabled.

Or what nV so delicately calls "Multi-monitor mode" aka SLI disabled...

hmmmmm Every time I hooked up two monitors it was a fun gimmick but that was about it. There's a nice sale going on now for the Dell 2407 model...you probably saved me $579 thanks....

I don't follow?

The only problem with dual display is that when SLI or CF is enabled, you have to revert to non SLI/CF mode to run dual displays.

This isn't an issue with single cards obviously.

The workaround is adding a third PCI card for running a second or third display functionality while leaving the dual cards in their respective performance modes.

BTW, has anyone ever seen an article explaining why SLI/CF cannot allow for multi-monitor usage?

Well, what's the practical use of 2 monitors to a non-cad, non-photoshop person? FSX uses them, but that thing will chug on 2 1920x1080 monitors. Not worth it. I was tempted by the thought, and by the Dell on sale, but, I think it's a waste.

You know, I had to laugh a few minutes ago regarding SLI on 2 monitors or not. what is 2/1? What is 2/0.5*2? It's not worth the engineering hassle to "SLI" on 2 monitors as opposed to letting 1 card handle each monitor. We are both 'tards. :D

Why wouldn't anyone want the extra desktop real state? :)

For instance: I do a lot of translation jobs to get extra money on the side and having two displays is a godsend because I don't have keep switching windows and enables me to work much faster.

I also watch TV series and movies on my computer; I don't even have a TV and with 2 displays I can watch a DVD on one screen while I work on the other one.

I use my computer for audio editing and recording as well; with dual monitors I can run my guitar amp modeling software on one display while I edit the audio on the other; again, doing this with one display is a PITA because I'd constantly have to switch windows.

In short; dual monitors rock; I could never, ever in a million years go back to a single display. And I'm a non-cad, non-photoshop person :)

The sky is the limit.

So I could use say a PCI video Card, and use my 8800GTS in SLI mode on Monitor 1, and my PCI card on monitor 2? Could it be ATI?
