Hey guys, haven't seen any comparison benchies between these two so thought I'd ask for opinions before the markets this weekend.
I recently built up a Q6600, 4GB Ram, Gigabyte DS3-R system running into dual 22" widescreen lcds @ 1680x1050 but, being unsure of which direction to go and no release news on the 9 series at the time, I took a 7800GTX out of my SLI rig.
I'm primarily playing Flight Sim X on the PC (which runs well) or multiboxing 5 instances of World of Warcraft (1 instance full screen on on monitor, 4 instances 1/4 screen on the others, 2 instances on 1 HD, 3 on a second and Vista 64 paging on a third) and this is where I want to see improvement.
On the main instance of WoW I am usually seeing about 20fps with most things downgraded and the out of focus instances capped at 15fps while they are int he background. I have a feeling that I'm being bottlenecked by the gpu and the lack of ram on the card so am looking at upgrade options to the 7800gtx and given an unknown date or price for the 9800's here I am considering the 8800GTS and 9600GT, with my first instinct being the 512Mb 8800GTS.
As another option I am considering taking 4 instances off this pc and running them on the 2 7800GTX's in the other pc once I add a new card to this pc so if that changes the suggestions I'm open to doing that...the only real limiting factor is that the card has to be nVidia chipset.
