Hey all,

I am planning an upgrade within the next month or two. As nVidia have just released the 9800GTX/GX2 cards, I am now wondering: I purchased the 8800GTS last month for my current system but was considering purchasing another to run them in SLI for my new system and reinstall the older 7800GTX I had before.

Is it better to run the 8800GTS in SLI or get a single 9800GTX?

Thanks,
deveraux

Better?

THe sli will destroy the lone 9800gtx, but better is a matter of perspective.

If you are not bothered by shortcomings of SLI (does not work in all games and you cannot use dual monitors), then definitely go for the SLI solution.

I wasn't aware that you cannot use dual monitors. That's sort of a deal breaker, can't live without it ever since I started using it.

You can use dual, but each monitor gets a graphics card, so you lose the SLI performance.

SLI just because your mobo is going to waste and the GX2 is a waste of money compared to SLI

CFire allows multiple monitor use. It's one of the big things that ATi has over Nvidia.
