8800gts g92 and hd video playback problems

So I just did a fresh reinstall of windows xp after I recently purchased a new 8800gts g92. I installed the 174.74 beta drivers and CCCP codec pack. Now when I try watching my 1080p movies, the video looks washed out and stutters. Audio stutters too. Before all this I had an ATI x1900xt and used Vista. Everything played perfectly back then. Do I need to install anything else other than the nvidia drivers to get smooth HD playback with my 8800gts? Any other solutions? I'm stuck. TIA
