8800GTS Dying, Need Replacement

Normally I'd research this myself, but I haven't looked at video cards for awhile and I need a quick answer so hoping someone has some ideas!

My 8800 GTS is giving me artifacts and all sorts off odd problems, when I stress test it it bluescreens so I figure it's on the way out. Is there anything comparable (I'm looking to spend <$100) anyone can think of or should I just grab another 8800 GTS off of eBay?

Requirements really are:
PCI Express x16
Direct X 10 support
2x DVI Out
 
your pc specs?
i just moved from an 8800gts g92 to a xfx5850
pretty much double'd my fps across the board
 
Why buy new while you can replace it from mfg?
If evga brand it offers lifetime warranty.
I'm sure other brands do offer similar warranty.
For evga you must be the registered card owner.
 
Mine is from FoxConn which I checked and apparently only have a 2 year warranty on video cards.

PSU is a Corsair HX520W
RAM is Patriot DDR2 6400 (2x2 and 2x1)
74GB Raptor HDD

That plus the above should be all the specs.

gts 250 512mb is the best sidegrade (15&#37; faster) right now for about 100.

They are 109$ on newegg or 99$ with rebate.

I just baked my 8800GTX back from the grave last night. Too bad I found out about this technique after I already ordered a new card. Anyone know if the 8800 will work as a decent PhysX card or is it too old?

There are reports of them lasting months and even years. I've even read about people re-baking them every 6 months or so and it works every time.

Apparently these cards develop micro-cracks in the soldered connections from repeated heating/cooling cycles over time. Baking at 385f for 10 minutes softens the solder, effectively removing the cracks.

Is this the so called bumpgate issue that nvidia had a couple years ago?
 
Wow, seems loads of people doing the baking thing now, with mobile phones as well. Wonder if it only works with vid cards and mobiles? The cat's been a bit poorly recently...
 
Congrats OP, I didn't know a fix like this existed! Now you can freeze your HDD to try and get data off, and bake your VGA card back from the dead. Kitchens are the "new" repair center! 😀
