8800GTS Core max issue

I have been trying to get my card tweaked for Crysis, as when I played the beta I was very disappointed. My current clocks are 648/1620/850, temps are good, 60-62at load. I amrunning the latest 163.69 drivers in Win XP 32. When I try to bump the core to 675 the next increment, It won't stick. As soon as I hit apply things are o.k., But It freezes as soon as I try ATITool 3d window, or anythting else. Why? The temps are fine, and when I did try to bump to 675 I set the shader back to 1350 and the mem at stock, so nothing else was overclocked. Everybody says that temps are the factor which determines your max speeds. But in my case, with all other clocks at stock I can't bump the core higher than 648??!! I see so many other GTS's with Cores higher than 648, What do I need to do to get past this hump?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!Please any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanx

Core speed is hard to get much farther.

Why do you think Ultras are barely faster core speeds?

My card wont budge after 621mhz. It crashes (gpu reset) after maybe 30minutes in games @648mhz or higher.
