8800GTS 640MB in X2 3800

The BB deal on a BFG 8800GTS OC2 640MB is looking very tempting. Will I see a significant performance increase if I upgrade from a x1900xt 256MB? Primarily play FPS and LOTRO.

Yeah, in LOTR Online you will be able to use the Hi-Res textures without any performance hit. They look amazing.

your current card doesn't really warrant an upgrade, does it ? I doubt it's worth the price premium of a dx10 card. Might be better of waiting till you really do need a replacement. By the time dx10 games come out, like crysis, there will be better deals to be had. On the other hand, you could be enjoying that 8800gts right now instead of later ...
