Hey all,

Right now I am looking to grab a new video card to finish my build off. I'm thinking now I will get a http://evga.com/products/morei...0-P2-N829-A1&family=19 this is the 640MB 8800GTS with 112SP. Basically as this is available to buy in Canada and there are no GTs whatsoever to be had. I plan to step-up to the new G92 GTS when it is released. I game at 1920x1200.

Based on this review, if it is valid, http://www.hardwarecanucks.com...sc-edition-review.html

this card is better than the GT for the resolution I game at.

I also plan to OC the card for as much as I can get out of it for a further boost. What is everyone's opinion on this being the better card for my current resolution ? The GTs are all $300 in Canada atm, and I can get this GTS SSC card from Evga for $350. The $50 is not a concern to me. And I plan to step-up to the new g92 gts when it comes out sooooo, just wondering if people are in agreement that this card is a better performer than the GT at 1900x1200 gaming ?

Thanks in advance for your time and opinions!

Cheers

GTS for sure. Theoretically it should beat the GTX and maybe even the Ultra.

But he's referring to the current GTS with 112 sp...Not the new one with 128.

Since you said you plan on stepping up to the G92 GTS when it's released, you won't have this card for long, so either would work fine I think.

However, I'm still interested in the answer to your GTS vs GT question. The benchmark link you provided shows a stock GT versus the SSC GTS. I'd be more interested in seeing an OC'd GT versus the SSC. The article even says he's not sure if you can OC the SSC much more (it is, after all, Super Super Clocked .../groan).

it's not really an SSC. Nvidia bump the shaders up from 96 to 112 as a refresh of the old g80 8800gts. they won't change the name, but they told their board partners they could use names like sc, ssc, ko, oc, etc to differentiate these from the older 96sp g80 8800gts's.
