I currently have an X1950 Pro 512MB and I'm thinking of upgrading. I saw a deal for the 8800 GTS 320MB for only $115. I don't have a lot of money and this is about all I can spend now. I was thinking to maybe SLI it later on but it might go out of stock and then I would have to spend another $200 for an upgrade. So, do you think it would be worth it to buy it, or should I just save up for a 8800 GTS 512MB for about $200. I game at 1680x1050 usually without AA but sometimes I do turn it on to 2x or 4x. I like to turn the details all the way up too. The games I'm looking to play are probably, Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, and Company of Heroes. I also do some 3D rendering but thats not too big of a deal. I need a quick reply since this deal is only until the end of the month. Thanks.

Yeah, that would probably double your performance in many cases and the price is pretty good.

You can always find more of them on FS/FT for around that price.

If you can get the 640mb version for slightly more, then try to. Not a big deal, but it helps in some games and at 1920x1200 and higher.

That should be a nice upgrade in speed from the card you have now. And a great price. I love my EVGA 8800GTS 320MB. Same price as the 8800GS card but faster.

You can get a 9600gt for about $150, I would definitely pick that one over a 320mb gts. The 320mb gts really tanks in performance once it runs out of free video memory, and while this mostly happens when you use AA, in some games like COH it suffers even without AA compared to equivalent cards with more memory.

Ok, so new question. Would it be worth an extra $45 to upgrade from the 8800GTS 320MB to the 8800GT 512MB? The 8800GT 512MB is $180 and the 8800GTS 320MB is $135 shipped or would it be best to get an 8800GTS 512MB for $255?

I would say yes. The 8800gt is almost on par with the 8800gtx in most cases, and that's a sizable leap beyond the old 8800gts even when the card does not suffer from memory shortage.

Don't be so sure. Most 8800gs can be clocked 680 core, 1750SP, 1050memory and 2.5x texture fillrate over 8800gts 320.

Sli is not the way to go. Sell your old buying a single powerful card is ideal.

It wouldn't cost you too much if you sold your card on ebay and then use the money towards the upgrade.

320mb GTS is okay but it does get limited in Crysis @ high detail @ 1280x1024. You might want to opt for 8800gs 384mb card for $110 AR instead. IMO you should up it a little more and get 8800gt instead at the resolution you play.

Hot Deals Forum: EVGA 8800GTS 512MB

Use the coupon code (EVGAN841) to knock $30 off and then the MIR reduces the price further to $207 shipped. This is even cheaper than the MSI 8800GTS deal with the full lifetime EVGA warranty.

EDIT: Otherwise, pick up this XFX 9600GT for $150 after MIR and you're set. At your resolution there's not much difference between the two in most of today's games, however going forward the 8800GTS will hold up better.
