I was wondering what the average temperatures were for the 8800gts 320mb. I'm currently averaging around 60C while idle which seems a little high. Can someone please tell me what temps are too high and what is average if possible?

Depends on how long you plan to keep it, I guess. Good case ventilation helps a lot. A PCI-slot cooler helps, too. I lowered mine's temps by 7~8C with a 2-slot PCI exhaust fan.

Mine is usually around 60c or a little lower idle as well. The slot coolers are awesome I use this one :

You can lower the speed if you want and then crank it up when you play games. It pushes a lot of air on high. Mine isn't directly under the video card but the next slot after that, seems to work good that way as long as you have good air flow coming from the front of your case.

I wouldn't worry about the temps though. GPU's have always ran hotter then CPU's. I might start to worry if I'm constantly hitting over 80c on load but then again even at 80c the card should be able to handly it.

Mine idles at 60 too, and doesn't go higher then 75c when gaming, using a pci slot cooler as well btw, which doesn't affect idle temps much.

8800GTS 640 here. Idles around 54C and reaches 65-70C depending on game at load.

Idle/load = 62/74 in Vista

Idle/load = 57/73 in XP

Of course Vista with Aero is in perpetual 3d mode, hence the difference between it and XP.
