I was reading this thread* at OCUK before the Inquirer picked it up. Nobody seems to have posted it here yet, so here's the info. It sets the UK price for a BFG overclocked 8800GTS 320MB at £199.97, available from 12/02/2007.

* you need to scroll about halfway down

Someone also lists the specs as:

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS
Bus Type: PCI Express
Memory: 320MB GDDR3
Core Clock: 550MHz (vs. 500MHz standard)
Shader Clock: 1300MHz (vs. 1200MHz standard)
Memory Clock: 1600MHz
Stream Processors: 96
Shader Model: 4.0
Texture Fill Rate: 26.4 billion/sec
Memory Bandwidth: 64GB/s
Connectors: 2 Dual-Link DVI-I, HDTV + TV Out
HDCP Enabled: Yes

No source cited but it seems everyone is waiting for the NDA to lift, including Scan UK from reading their Hexus forum. Surprising given how easily the info flowed like sand through a sieve for G80.

 or ?

This would be the news I've been waiting for, although with HL2: EP2 being delayed yet again to Fall 2007 (along with Crysis), I'm starting to wonder whether I should have my own little delay.

Something for gersson as he's bored...

lol!

I'm not that familiar with the prices for the 8800 series in the UK but I guess that when it's out, it will be the card to get... wonder if AMD can match the price/performance ratio!

I read Fall 2007 in December or early January but can't remember where. I found this recent interview:

Cevat Yerli: We are still assessing the definitive date, but you can expect to hear more from us on this subject not too long from now.

Not very promising

From a cheaper retailer in the UK, the cheapest 640MB GTS (Palit) was available at £240 recently but has gone back to £260. A BFG GTS is £285 and the BFG GTX is £386.

The top end EVGA and XFX are £458 :Q  The top end has come down by approx £70 since launch where the highest price was £528 :thumbsdown:

Well the currency coverter £199.7 or £200 is about $260.3201 US dollars. Any 8800GTS under 300 is great, but closing in on 250 than wow! :D Im very excited.

Err, £ = GBP.
1.95$= 1£, which means it's more like $390 than $250.
You must be using some crazy exchange rate which you just made up.

Sorry but it's more like $391.40 as a straight conversion.

Take out the rip-off UK factor and you're probably back down at $299 as previously rumoured.

Although this looks like a decent card for decent price, for anyone who's planning to throw this ammount dough for a video card I'd rather recommend 512MB+ of frame buffer. Just click the links below.

Memory Usage 1: Oblivion 1600x1200
Memory Usage 2: Company of Heroes 1600x1200

Control panel setting both 4AA/16AF/High Quality. The Riva Tuner screenshot for Oblivion was taken right after I exited the game, while the Company of Heroes shot was taken after alt+tab out.

My only quibble with the 320MB was the memory. I was gonna wait for benches etc, but I'll be running 1440x900. Should I care about 640MB?

Very interesting results.... now I'm really wanting benchmarks to compare the 320mb vs the 640mb cards.

excellent point. This is why I would advise against the 320 Mb model. Once it comes to games with large textures, the 320 Mb will reach the memory limit and swapping will slow down performance big time. lopri's 768 Mb GTX got maxxed @ 1600x1200/4AA/16AF! I believe the 320 Mb GTS has tons of processing power but it just doesn't have enough memory for future games.
