Is it just me, or does this card look about ( maybe a little faster ) than the 1950XTX ?

Speaking of BFG...how good is their warranty on their cards ? Im considering a GTS, and know NOTHING about them.

I believe they're one of the best companies to deal with. Their cards have a lifetime warranty in the US, 10 years in the EU.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Pricing is the key issue for me. Someone had suggested that it was only $50 less than the full 8800GTS. If so, that would stink.

But if it's ~$300 or even less then it would be a great deal. However, seeing as most games already tax 512mb cards, it's weird to pair up a high end card with less than 512mb

You can get a normal GTS on NewEgg for about $370 after rebate... why even go for this one :Q.

BFG probably has the best warranty policy of all the different nVidia partners, lifetime warranty and they don't care if you OC either (last I checked). EVGA is pretty good too from what I hear. I actually wanted the BFG part but there was a $30 difference in the 1 day I had it in my cart and the day I bought my new parts......

I'd wait a bit and see what the actual price is on these. They may MSRP for $299 but I'd probably expect $280 or so from the better e-tailers when the NDA is lifted and that could fall even more shortly after with rebates. The OC'd parts are coming in so the original versions are going to fall in price. As someone mentioned, that leaves very little price difference between the original parts and these newer ones, so the only place for them to go is down.

But ya in terms of performance these look great. They're not neutered at all compared to the 640MB GTS, same memory interface, # of pixel pipes, shader units, shader clock, memory and GPU clock, just half as much memory. The rest of the mainstream DX10 parts to be released are all going to be cut down in at least one of the above areas.

ZZF not long ago had the 8800GTS for $319.99 (AR).
This card should be priced in the mid to upper $200ish for it in order to be considered a contender.
Nonetheless the 3dmark06 score looks impressive.

I'd rather have EVGA's warranty than BFG's. Both have lifetime warranties, both let you overclock, but unless something has changed since I last checked, BFG doesn let you change the stock cooler while EVGA does.

I've only sent one EVGA card back and it was a painless process. Throw in EVGA's step-up and EVGA is a tier above BFG. Not to mention the fact that BFG's products are always overpriced.

Eh, EVGA annoyed me with their changing of their warranty. I didn't realize that you had to register within a certain period of time and I Forgot to ... now I lost my lifetime warranty on my $600 card. But look at my BFG card that I never registered... it's warrantied through BFG still .

Dang that sucks.

I cant really blame them though. Their warranty doesn't cover the card if the original owner sells it. This is their way of making sure that they aren't replacing cards that have changed ownership.

Have you talked to EVGA about this? Did they just tell you tough luck?

I'd heard around the net (ars, inq, engadget) that these and they're larger bretheren where going to retail for ~$150 -> ~$200. A sub 200$ DX10 card is the only thing I need to replace my ancient skt 754 rig. (FX5900 Ultra, ugh...)
