I have an old 6800GT that died a couple of years ago...and noticed the similarity of its PCB and the PCB on the 8800GT and said 'why not?'. External venting is preferred, right?

The power connector on the NV5 doesn't fit the plug on the 8800GT, but a molex-to-2 pin-connector worked and now it's installed. Idle is around 58 centigrade and it topped out at 74 centigrade during the Crysis GPU demo. The performance is on par with the stock cooler, but the heat is now vented out of the case. And it's quiet under load.

Nice.

I seriously don't understand why more companies don't just vent the heat out the back of the case. Probably to keep us from overclocking more. My 6800GT gets to 87C sometimes in Wow with the AF turned all the way up. When it's not overclocked.
