So I have 5 days left on my evga step up program. I rarely game at 1680x1050 resolution. But I do enjoy playing the new games that come out.

I purchased my 8800GT for around 290 before rebate around December, when the GT's were selling like hot cakes. The GTS on EVGA's site is 359.99 which seems like a rip off considering its 290 at other stores.

But EVGA is offering a step up to a G92 8800GTS for 80 bucks. Is it worth the switch?
I like my 8800GT, except the cooler. If I decide to keep the GT, I plan to spend around 40 dollars for an aftermarket air cooled solution.

I'm wondering what the general AT thought are on this dilemma...

eVGA has an "absolutely no cross shipping" policy so I always opt for the "ebay step up plan"...

80 dollars to go from a GT to a GTS is more then the current price difference at the store. Do you think in a few monthes when the 9 series comes out you will get that much more money for the GTS on ebay?
I wouldn't think so.

You could try doing an ebay upgrade now (or take eVGA up on their offer) if you want, or later. Ultimately its your choice, you should also consider how the GTS is faster so you might enjoy it more for some time...
I just got an 8800GTS 512 (coming from a 7900GS) and I am having a blast.
